Defense rests case in trial of CA gay teen's death

365gay.com
The defense has rested its case against Brandon McIlverney, the accused murderer of Lawrence King in 2008. Brandon, being tried as an adult, shot Lawrence twice in the back of his head in their school classroom with other students looking on. The defense has maintained that Brandon shot King because of sexual advances being made toward him.

The prosecution maintains that this is a case of premeditated murder as Brandon had told a friend the day before the murder that he was going to kill King.

This case is a monumental, precedent-setting case in that it may change the way that hate crimes are viewed if he is convicted. Stay on this case as all major news sources are for the impact it will have, one way or the other, on hate crimes committed against LGBTQ people.
