Rachael Maddow reports the election results! America wins!

Wednesday's show left no doubt as to the impact this elction year has had on the American people. In it, she tears into the GOP losses with her usual humor and insight while leaving little doubt as to who really won this year.

Gay Couple Called Antigay Slur by United Airlines Agent

This event is above and beyond what we as a community should have to put up with.  Billy Canu and his partner said their holiday travel was disrupted when a United Airlines agent called them “faggots” during an exchange about access to the lounge at Denver International Airport on Saturday.

Not only did they have to put up with this hate, but from a manager of UA nonetheless.  There is a time to be patient, and there is a time to stand up to a bully, nose to nose and call their bluff. This is one of those times. There are over 3 pages of comments on this article, but one it particular really raised my ire:

Okay so what we have here are two gays who thought they could do what they please. United informed that they couldn't. The gays started some crap and United stood up to them. Bravo to United, who decided to ignore the memo that the world revolves around gay people."

This, again is one of those times when someone needed to stand word for word against another bully, and I replied:

Dear Andy: Okay, so what we have here is one homophobic bully (that's you) that apparently lives under a rock. United informed them, as most bullies characteristically do that they are not equal to you nor worthy of respect, so they HAD to start some crap to get the customer service they paid for and stand up to the bullies (that's you again.) Bravo to the two guys who decided to ignore the uneducated, hate language they were forced to listen to in public and who stood up to ignorance and stupidity. Go back under your rock and stay there...those of us who did get the memo don't care much about what those of you who can't read or have any tolerance for others (once again...that's you) think. BTW: the people who did get the 'memo' read it and agreed to abide by its rules. I worked for a major airline for 11 years ... I wrote the damn thing!

Bachmann Has Cold Shoulder for Tough Questions | News | The Advocate

In a previous blog we reported that Bachmann has an increasing amount to answer for. Mother Jones broke a story this week about the "teen suicide epidemic" in Bachmann's district. Nine teenagers have died during the last two years, and some parents are directly assigning blame to Bachmann.

“I feel if I hadn't moved to this district my daughter wouldn't have died,” one mother told Mother Jones.

A photojournalist with TV station WQAD in Moline, Ill., said his station has evidently been cut off from Bachmann in retribution for an anchor just asking about whether so-called reparative therapy, aimed at turning gay people straight, is offered by her clinics. As Bachmann dodged the question (following her "MO"), behind the scenes, WQAD staff members say, her representatives were threatening to end the interview if the anchor asked follow-up questions. Six minutes into the interview, raw video posted by the station appears to show the feed being cut off. And when WQAD photojournalist Chuck McClurg tried to get an interview with Bachmann this weekend, he says he was told by a staffer that "due to the interview last week WQAD would not have an interview."

I think sooner or later this "fly-by-night" outfit will pass...Bachmann just doesn't represent the American people, their wishes and their needs and apparently doesn't feel the need to. I think that most people would like to separate politics, religion, and Bachmann in this case. It will be interesting if she makes it to the debates and she is forced to answer these questions. I don't believe that she or her staffers will be able to cut off the station from broadcasting then.

Worth watching just to see her squirm!
