US Senate To Vote On Bill That Will Allow The Military To Arrest Americans On American Soil And Hold Them Indefinitely

As we lose more and more of our constitutional rights every day, this is one that we MUST take a stand on, and immediately. A Republican sponsored bill is about to be voted on that will allow the president to authorize the military to arrest and hold indefinitely any American in the USA for no reason and for an indeterminate amount of time.

We are truly headed down a very dangerous road that has been paved with greed and the need for control of the masses by the few who pull all the strings in our country. While the president has said he would veto such legislation that literally smacks of tyranny and a dictatorial take-over of America, this is the most dangerous that could be set to relieve us of any and all rights guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution.

America is NOT a battlefield. America is a free country and American citizens should not ever be arrested by the military and certainly not without being charged or getting a trial. This provision would cast aside the Constitution and put the liberties of American citizens here at home and around the world at serious risk. Please call your senator or visit this link, because this is a risk Americans cannot afford to take.

New Bill Being Considered In Congress Could Shut Down Social Media Sites Crucial To ‘Occupy’ Protests | Addicting Info

This is a little "off-topic" for me, but so important that it needs to be passed on so Americans will smarten up/wake up/ stop the apathy/ get involved in what's going on. Our self-appointed ruling class (aka Republicans, Wall Street, corporate thugs) are quickly attempting to shut down the internet in response to the OWS movement and severely restrict public access to information while making it illegal and a felony when you do.

This is a step too far towards the totalitarian government that we almost have now. Sign the petition, call your senator(s), become active in what's going on now before it's too late and you have no voice, no vote, no freedoms, and no money because the 1% have it all.

GOP Senators Kill Obama Jobs Bill as Boston Protestors are Arrested!

The fact that the Republican led Senate has killed President Obama's Job Bill comes as no surprise. Their hypocritical methods of politics once again shine brightly as they will most likely attempt to split up the bill, piece by piece, and then drown those in politics and filibusters.

They (Wall Street...aka the 1%) are not concerned about us, the other 99%, having to survive in this failing economy. No, the Republican Agenda of "Just Say NO" to anything Democrats propose is more concerned about gaining complete control of this country through their devious, misleading lies and Koch-backed political manipulation. It doesn't make any difference what the current administration proposes to get the economy going again, Republicans are going to vote against it, even though many of Obama's proposals are the very same ones that Republicans have previously proposed themselves as being the solution.

Is it any wonder that this country now has more than 200 cities involved in non-violent protest uprisings against the "1%" and Wall Street?

Speaking of that, apparently in Boston, where the Veterans for Peace were camped out in in the Rose Fitzgerald Greenway this morning, were dispersed and about 100 of them arrested by the Boston Police as the police commissions looked on. Other cities have reported the same actions being taken against them by the police, but no matter how hard they try the growing social movement around the country to change the direction we are going in is not going away and will not stop until change is made. I guess it remains unclear what that change will be however.

Daily Kos: House Republicans ignore jobs bill while tripling funding for defense of anti-gay legislation

Once again the House Republicans are showing their true colors. They have voted to increase their legal defense of DOMA by one (1) million dollars to a firm of attorneys (probably friends) and refuse to discuss the creation of jobs in America. This is out and out war on the LGBTQ community, an outright illogical move, and shows the true side of what the GOP is all about. Misdirection, lies, ignorance, and lack of care about the 98% of Americans that need help the most.

Apparently they don't read the media they so love to control that is saying that America is in trouble economically and every other way. They would rather divert money to fighting a dead battle and their rich cronies while demanding cuts from social services to the needy to pay for it.

Once again I say to the people, WAKE UP! If you don't get involved soon the rights you think you have will not exist any longer and we will be ruled by a small group of people who will command when you live and when you die!

JP Morgan donates record $$ to NYPD after Demonstrations start!

Not much to say about this little ditty...apparently this happened within two days of the Wall Street Demonstration start. Money buys anything...in this case the lack of media coverage and harassment by the NYPD!

The Coming Second Civil War in the United States: Will We be Enslaved by Corporate Governance? | BuzzFlash.org

This is an extremely new, but inevitable thought...one that I've been thinking and talking about for some time now. I believe that this country, now led and owned by the GOP and backed by corporate greed and lobbyists, will soon become known as a Third World country and will be replaying history with a civil war. Americans' confidence in government is at an all-time low with an estimated 80-82% of the people dissatisfied with their congressional representatives and Washington politics. In some ways it might be the best thing that could happen, but in other ways, it could be the worst. We are already at war in more countries than we ever have in the past, we have a president that supports Republican ideologies behind the backs of the people who elected him believing that he would keep his promises to make changes in Washington politics that would be favorable to the American people, and now we are more in debt to China than ever before in history. There is little to feel good about in recent months except that LGBTQ rights have advanced somewhat. But I feel, as many do, that those rights will be short-lived with extreme right-wing "religious" zealots such as Michelle Bachmann in the running for president.

Our country is now governed by the rich one percent and is being led down a path of self-destruction that, as this article talks about, will eventually lead to a repeat of one of the worst times in our history...the bloody rebellion of the people against a well equipped, well funded group of corporations (a.k.a. our government).

All of this is like watching a well staged  play as it moves forward faster and faster towards an uncertain future. This is the legacy we intended to leave our children?

Bernie Sanders-"Stop Ganging up on the Needy and Making the Rich Richer!

Once again, Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont),  the voice of reason and common sense in American political circles calls out the "Gang of Six" and calls for a stop to plans by the GOP to cut social programs, including the self-funding Social Security program, and start taxing the rich to help balance the budget.

From an article at Buzzflash.com

“While all of the details from the so-called Gang of Six proposals are not yet clear, what is apparent is that the plan would result in devastating cuts to Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and many other programs that are of vital importance to working families in this country. Meanwhile, tax rates would be lowered for the wealthiest people and the largest, most profitable corporations.

“This is an approach that should be rejected by the American people.  At a time when the rich are becoming richer and corporate profits are soaring, at least half of any deficit-reduction package must come from upper income people and profitable corporations.  We must also take a hard look at military spending, which has tripled since 1997.”

Republican Budget So Loony Even the Nuts Think It's Nuts!

Friday 15 April 2011

Truthout.org
The Republican budget is so loony it's even scaring the right-wing nuts! How often does that happen? The Republicans are voting on their budget plan this week. The plan eliminates Medicare and guts Medicaid, guts the rest of the government (except the things their oil company and military-contractor sponsors make money from), while dramatically cutting taxes on the wealthy and corporations. Reporters are asking Republicans to comment publicly on the plan and the responses are not what you'd expect. When reporters use "tread cautiously" to describe anything Republicans do, you know something's up.
Here are some important links in the article to save time:

Militarized Conservatism and the End(s) of Higher Education

Tuesday 5 April 2011
by:Henry A. Giroux, Truthout

The Truth about our "War Machine"vs. Education and the American 99%.
The Politican's and their refusal to touch the high costs of war...and the reason our country and it's poor/middle class are suffering because of the GOP greed and need to be at war!

-------------------------------------------------------------------
The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute states, "The USA's military spending accounted for 43 per cent of the world total in 2009, followed by China with 6.6 per cent; France with 4.3 per cent and the UK with 3.8 per cent."(2) The conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan have cost Americans a staggering $1 trillion to date, second only in inflation-adjusted dollars to the $4 trillion price tag for World War II."(3) Pentagon spending for 2011 will be more than $700 billion. To make matters worse, as Tom Englehardt points out, "We dominate the global arms trade, monopolizing almost 70% of the arms business in 2008, with Italy coming in a vanishingly distant second. We put more money into the funding of war, our armed forces and the weaponry of war than the next 25 countries combined (and that's without even including Iraq and Afghan war costs)."(4) Moreover, the United States maintains a massive ring of military bases and global presence around the world, occupying "over 560 bases and other sites abroad"(5) and deploying over 300,000 troops abroad, "even as our country finds itself incapable of paying for basic services."(6) In spite of how much military expenditures drain much-needed funds from social programs, the military budget is rarely debated in Congress or a serious object of discussion among the public. Rather than avoid squandering resources and human lives on foreign wars, we avoid "the realities and costs of war."(7)
