Just when we make some headway, "two steps ahead", we take one BIG step backwards. This could be a major block in all our efforts to stop the bullying and to end teenage suicide in our schools across the nation. (R) Representative Virginia Sullivan has been chosen to head the Higher Education Subcommittee in the House of Representatives.

It was her belief that Matthew Shepherd's death was NOT a hate crime but a HOAX?
This is the kind of thinking that fosters bullying and teen suicide, not stops it! She was also strongly opposed against passage of the Matthew Shepherd and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Bill.
I guess that putting her in charge of this committee falls right in line with the GOP mandate of let's be anti-gay at all costs. In fact, let's be anti-anything that gives someone else the same rights as the mutually exclusive rich (GOP) and it's supporters. Have a look at others they have put in charge of important committees. Maybe this old gal will end up just like the Republicans usually do, and that is making complete fools of themselves.
They've already gone back on their campaign promises to reduce the National Debt. Their agenda is to try and reverse every bill that was passed during the current administration, just like a bunch of little children who think of nothing but revenge. They're the ones that wasted two years of valuable congressional time...now they want to play on the taxpayer's playground of unlimited money while wasting another two years.
SHAME ON YOU! SHAME ON US! for thinking that the GOP was going to follow through with their campaign promises. You were elected to do the work of the people, not piss and moan about how bad things are due to Obama.
